Balvenie have set themselves a mission to get 50,000 new visitors to Speyside to find out how whisky is made. However, the distillery’s home in Dufftown isn’t big enough, so they’ve decided to bring the art of whisky-making down to London for this year’s Whisky Show.
Balvenie will be teaming up with Heriot-Watt University to bring us live distilling at the show, using a small still to produce new make spirit. They’ll also be running coopering demonstrations and sharing some of their knowledge of how to make the perfect dram. David Stewart, their award winning whisky maker, will be on hand along with brand ambassadors Dr. Sam Simmons and Dr. Andrew Forrester to show you the craftsmanship behind their incredible whisky.
Balvenie’s sister distillery Glenfiddich will also be bringing something a bit special along to the show, giving visitors the chance to join their UK Ambassador, Jamie Milne, for some very exclusive drams in the Glenfiddich Yurt. The yurt was trekked to Everest Base Camp in 2012 during the Walking With The Wounded Everest Expedition, where it was used to host the World’s Highest Whisky Tasting.
Jamie will be joined by members of the UK Team who will be taking part in the Walking With The Wounded South Pole Challenge 2013 – come and share a dram in the yurt with these determined and courageous young men and women, and hear their inspirational stories.
